We wanted to share some updates with you about the current thoughts for the upcoming summer swim season. We are continuing to delay registration, but request that you please Respond by May 1 to the Intent to Swim on Swimtopia (more information below).

The SAIL board is meeting weekly to make decisions and provide guidance to the teams. As of this week, DHEC has not allowed pools to open and USA swimming will not allow practices until at least June 1. In order to maximize swimmer participation, SAIL is working to shift the season as much as necessary.

All SAIL teams are voting this week on a recommendation to cancel Championships and Classics for 2020. The Foxcroft Swim Team Board approves of this recommendation.

If practices are allowed to start on June 1, the proposed first meet would be June 18 and the season would end no later than July 25. There is discussion of ways to hold meets while still maintaining social distancing. One option is that meets may be “virtual” with each team swimming in their own pool.

Some teams are going ahead and opening registration. However, we have decided to continue to wait until we have more information to share regarding schedule and fees. Our goal is to reduce the overall cost for this very different season. We are looking at registration fees as well as delaying the purchase of new team suits.

We would like to determine how the shifted schedule or other concerns might affect our enrollment for the season. All Returning Families, please log-in to Swimtopia by May 1 and let us know if you will swim this year or not by filling out the Intent to Swim Form (link here).  There is a place to express concerns, ask questions, or let us know what factors might affect your registration.

New families without Swimtopia accounts, please e-mail Susan Tomfode at [email protected] if you are planning to join our team. Please include the names and ages of the children that will be joining us.

This information is only for planning purposes. When we open registration, please plan to register ASAP. No swimmer will be allowed to practice until registration is complete.

SAIL Scholarships - All seniors should apply for the $1000 scholarship on sail.swimtopia.com. The scholarship essays are due May 29 by 5pm.

SAIL Training for Certified Officials - Training needs to be completed soon through Swimtopia with videos and tests. More information coming.
