June 1 Update
We had a wonderful and chilly first practice this morning! We are so thankful for such great attendance even at the earlier time slots! Thank you to everyone who attended the parent meeting yesterday. Here is a re-cap of the information that was shared as well as some follow-up information:
Coaches: You can learn more about our coaches here. If you need to reach them, their phone numbers are Kyle Bradley (864-884-6480), Sam Wingard (843-361-0968), and Clara Mozingo (864-553-9278).
Board Members: Our swim team is volunteer led. We are thankful for our board, and are always looking for new people to get involved. Now is a great time to ask around about what position you may be interested in and shadow a current board member. Our current board members can be found here.
Swimmers: We have nearly 80 swimmers on our team this year (plus almost 20 interested in Fish). This is the largest we have been in a long time! We have paired all of the new families with a more experienced family. The first practices and meet will seem overwhelming, but it will all start to make sense. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions!
Fish Team: After originally thinking it would not be possible, we are excited to be able to offer a modified version of our instructional Fish Team for children 3 and older. Parental involvement is required as the coaches will not be in the water assisting swimmers. Fish practice will start June 8. Registration is now open and will close on June 6. Go to https://foxcroft.swimtopia.com to register, or questions can be directed to Jamie Dawson at [email protected].
Meets: Meets will be virtual this year. Foxcroft will swim all of our events in our pool. The computer will compare our times to our competitor. In order to allow swimmers time to recover between events and to allow for social distancing, we plan to use 3 lanes instead of 6. There will be much less set-up/clean-up for these virtual meets, but we still need volunteers. The first meet is on June 11. Times and more information TBD. Parents will sign their swimmer up for their events each week on Swimtopia.
Practice: Last night, the HOA Board agreed to allow us to use more pool hours starting on June 8.
