Important Meet Policy Information

This is a long email with a lot of new information for both new and returning families. Please read carefully!

Meet Sign-Up: Each week it is the parent’s responsibility to sign their children up for the meet. The deadline is midnight on Sunday (4 days before the meet)! Your swimmers will not be allowed to swim in the meet if they are not signed up. We are still waiting for SAIL to populate our meets on Swimtopia, but they are expected by tonight. We will send out a Remind text when sign-up is available for the June 11 meet, so make sure you are getting our texts (Text @foxswims to 81010)! June 7 will be the deadline to swim on June 11.

Make sure to declare your swimmers for every meet, whether they are swimming or not. If they are swimming, but you are not going to be at the meet, please contact Ashley Mozingo to let her know not to schedule you for volunteering.

Each week you will:

  • Sign-in to Swimtopia.
  • Go to the Meets & RSVP Calendar and choose up to 3 individual events for each swimmer. 8&Under parents, please check with a coach before signing up for breast, IM, or fly to make sure your child is ready. New families, please reach out to your “buddy” family if you need help!
  • Make sure you select if your child is available for relays, but the coaches will set the relay teams each week. Please note, these teams can change at any time.
  • Download the Swimtopia app on your phones. Once complete, your child’s events and parent’s volunteer positions will appear in the app.

New families, there is a lot of good advice for meets here. Although many of our normal practices are going to be different and some things are not applicable this year, we hope you still find it helpful.

COVID-19 Meet Policies: Many things are going to look and feel very different this year, including swim meets. Please help us and encourage your children to focus on the fact that we are actually having a season rather than on the things that we can not do this year! We also thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility. We have done our best to think carefully through everything, but we realize that things may have to change.

  • Our on-deck capacity (including the shelter) is 100 people. We expect to get close to that number just with swimmers and volunteers, so spectators may not set-up on the deck.
  • There will be no team tent and no tent parents watching your children.
  • Families will set-up their own blanket, tailgating tent, etc on the field behind the diving board. Please do not set-up against the fence, but leave space for people to stand at the fence to view the pool.
  • Parents are welcome on the deck (clubhouse side of the pool) to watch their swimmer, but then please return to the field when the event is complete to allow more parents to watch.
  • It is recommended that swimmers wear their shoes from the field to the pool. We will help move shoes from the block-end to the turn-end for 10&Under events.
  • 8&under parents should expect to walk their children to the gate for their events.
  • We will have a one-way flow of traffic. Swimmers will enter the front gate and exit the back gate. 10&unders will exit the turn-end of the pool, collect their shoes, and exit through the shelter. 11&Up (or longer events for 10&Unders) will exit the pool at the blocks, walk around the diving board, and exit through the shelter.
  • We hope to have a food truck at each of our meets, but will not be providing other concessions. Please make sure swimmers and volunteers have plenty of water and any necessary snacks.
  • Due to the virtual format, we will not have meet results or heat placement immediately at the end of the night. We will have some information available at Fun Friday, but ribbons will not be ready until Monday.

Meet Timeline:

  • Start-time: 6 PM
  • Warm-up times: Group 3 - 4:50, Group 2 - 5:10, Group 1 - 5:30. (Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before warm-up and note the reversal in schedule. The OLDEST swimmers are warming-up FIRST.
  • Volunteers check-in by 5:30.

Volunteer info: Thank you to everyone who has already completed the training and tests. If you have not already done so, please take the online training and tests for timer, records/ribbons, runner, and any position you have previously certified for here. New families, the training and tests will make much more sense after the first meet! Questions can be directed to Ashley Mozingo (864-325-2136).

Reminders:

  • Don’t forget to order Foxwear here! The store will close on June 7th.
  • Fish Team registration can be found here. Registration will close on June 6.

Schedule:

The practice schedule has been updated on our google calendar. You can view/subscribe to it here. Please note, google and iCal can take several hours or even days to sync, so updates may not appear immediately on your phone, but they will be on the swimtopia website.
