No Swim Team This Week

Swim Team Families,

We have additional updates and information to share regarding COVID-19 exposure on our team. Please note that we will only share names if the families give us their permission. If you feel you need more information due to potential exposure, please contact Susan Tomforde. We also know there is a lot of sharing of information among other swim teams. If you share information/emails with someone who is not a member of our swim team, please remove any names/identifying information.

We have decided to cancel all swim team events and practices for the remainder of the week. This includes the 6/25 swim meet. We still hope to have 6/30 meet, and we need those sign-ups ASAP.

A swimmer in Group 3 received positive test results for COVID-19 this morning after previously being diagnosed with sinus discomfort and an ear infection. This individual has not interacted with any other members of the swim team since June 14th. In addition, we have multiple other families who have initiated testing because they had exposure to a positive patient or are experiencing symptoms of illness: most commonly sore/scratchy throats and sinus infections. These may not be COVID-related, but because it is unknown at this time, we can’t in good conscience gather our team in the near term.

Please remember that we have asked all families to:

  • Not participate in any swim team activities if an immediate household member is sick (in any way). According to this policy, swimmers are not allowed to attend practice if:
  1. They or anyone in their household have experienced any of the symptoms listed below.
  2. Anyone in their household is awaiting testing, awaiting test results, or has tested positive for COVID-19. (This does not apply if the testing is simply for peace of mind, surgery preparation, or work requirements)
  3. They have been in close contact with anyone who has symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Immediately notifying Susan if one of your swimmers or family members has been exposed to COVID-19 or is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. Including:
    • Fever (temperature of 100.4 F or greater)
    • Chills
    • Repeated shaking with chills
    • Cough
    • Sore throat
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Loss of taste or smell
    • Muscle pain or soreness
    • Nausea and/or diarrhea
    • Rash

It will take a team-wide effort to promote the health and safety of our Foxcroft families and to limit further disruption of the swim season. Making this season work is everyone's responsibility - we need to love others and be respectful. We are thankful for all of you!
