June 4th Meet Details

Our First Meet is Friday! This week’s meet is virtual. We will swim in our pool, and our out-of-division opponent, the Poinsettia Pirates, will swim in their pool.

Meet Timeline:

  • Set-up 2 PM – Please come help if you can! You can also start setting up tents on the field at this time.
  • Warm-up times: 11&Up - 5:10, 10&Under - 5:30. Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before warm-up. The OLDEST swimmers are warming-up FIRST.
  • Volunteers check-in by 5:30.
  • Start-time: 6 PM
  • End time: TBD
  • Pool Party will start after the deck is put back in order, and will finish at 10 PM.

What to Bring:

  • Goggles
  • Caps (must be Foxcroft or plain/solid cap)
  • Snacks and plenty of water!
  • Towel
  • Chair
  • Tent or even a rain umbrella for some shade

For more information on suggested items to bring, go to our swim meet 101

Swimtopia App / Event Numbers: You can view your children’s events in the Swimtopia App. Scroll down to events, and click on this week’s meet. Many children like to have their event numbers written on their arm in Sharpie.

Meet Policies:

  • Spectators are welcome to come on deck to watch their swimmers, however, you may not set-up chairs on the deck.
  • Guests are allowed this year. So, tell those grandparents they can come!
  • There will be no team tent. Bring shade if you want it.
  • There will be no tent parents watching the children. “Field Hands” will be responsible for getting swimmers for their events, but will not be babysitting.
  • It is recommended that swimmers wear their shoes from the field to the pool deck.
  • Swimmers and Spectators may enter the deck from the shelter. Swimmers will go to the right and around the diving board to line up for their events. Spectators will go to the left to watch from the clubhouse side of the pool. Please do not congregate in the shelter or between the shelter and the turn-end side of the pool.
  • Due to the virtual format, we may not have meet results or heat placement immediately at the end of the night. We will plan to hand out ribbons on Monday.
  • For all meets, parents and swimmers should have the expectation that relay line-ups may have last minute changes. Relay spots are not guaranteed and are solely the discretion of our coaches.
  • The meet will proceed in the rain, but will be postponed for thunder or lightning. All communication regarding delays will be through the Remind group text.

Concessions: We will have traditional concessions near the field as well as a Jersey Mike’s Food Truck in the parking lot. Jersey Mikes will be grilling Hot Philly Cheesesteak and Chicken & Cheese Sandwiches. They will remain until 10 PM for our after-meet pool party.

Fox Friends: Please help your swimmers encourage their big/little foxes. They should try to talk to each other at some point during the meet and to cheer them on. Gifts are not required, but many like to give small items like a homemade card, lollipop, gum, snack, or Gatorade.

Volunteer info: Kelly Keever is assigning volunteers for our first meet. If your swimmer(s) are participating, expect to be given an assignment. If you are not available or have a last minute emergency, please let Kelly know ASAP (864-354-7561, or [email protected]). Volunteer assignments will be communicated by email. They will also be available in the Swimtopia app this year.

June 10th Meet Sign-Up: Sign-ups for next week’s meet against Pelham Falls will open on Thursday night at 8 PM (this will be our schedule going forward). Starting with this meet, we will be allowing volunteers to choose their jobs. Please sign up for at least two halves per family or talk to Kelly Keever about any conflicts. Remember, the deadline for swimmer entries is Sunday night.  The sooner you register, the better for the coaches and getting your first-choice job. Since it’s been a few years since we chose our own jobs in Swimtopia, you can view instructions here.
