2022 Officials Training and More

It may be freezing outside, but the SAIL board had their first meeting of the season recently. Preparations for the 2022 swim season have begun!

The training sessions for meet officials (Stroke & Turn, Starter, Referee) as well as Clerk of Course have been announced. If you are interested in volunteering in any of these roles in 2022, please mark your calendars for one of the sessions being held in May. The dates can be found on the volunteer tab of our website. Please note: there will be fewer/larger classes this year, and they will take place at a new location. Certification for other volunteer positions are fully online and must occur before the first meet. Descriptions of all volunteer positions can be found on the volunteer tab, or feel free to talk to one of our board members if you are interested in trying something new. We also have several open board positions. If you are interested, please talk to Kathryn Means (864-415-5675).

The previously announced meet schedule has been approved. This can be found on our homepage. The renovations at the pool are well under way, and our new starting blocks have been ordered. We are so excited about them! We took advantage of the resurfacing to change the way our lanes are oriented. We will no longer have a block in the shallowest lane (closest to the clubhouse), but will instead use the former empty lane as our new lane 6. This will also be a wider lane that will allow us to run a lane line against the deep end and wall.

Registration is tentatively set to open on April 3, and we anticipate practice starting on May 9.
