SAIL Certification

Our first Swim Meet is on June 3, and it will be here before we know it. We all know how crazy May is! Before we can have our first meet, there are several steps that need to happen. One major step is getting volunteers certified and then manually set-up in Swimtopia so that you can choose your job assignments. We need your help! Please read the information below and take the necessary steps this week!

Volunteers:

  • All Parents (Competitive Team families only): SAIL requires all volunteers to be certified each year. We ask that all parents certify as a TIMER by midnight Friday (12 AM May 21). You will take the Timer Certification test on the SAIL certification test page. The “Education Materials” tab has a “Timers Clinic” and a “Lane Timers Briefing” that you will need to read (you can keep it open in another tab of your computer while you take your test). Note: There may be some mistakes on the tests. The information will feel overwhelming and confusing for new families. Don’t worry, we are here to help you and it will all make more sense after the first swim meet. If you don’t pass the test on the first try, you are not alone, and you can simply take it again.
  • Certified Officials (Stroke & Turn, Starter, Ref, Coach, CofC): If you have not already gone to a training session, you must attend a training session this week. Tests need to be passed by May 23. More information on the SAIL page here.

Pool Update: As many of you have noticed/heard, there is a problem with our new blocks. They are approximately 9 inches too tall. We are working closely and constantly with the manufacturer, but we currently have no estimated repair date. The covers will remain on the blocks and no swimmers will be allowed to use them until the blocks are fixed. Additionally, the concrete company ran out of concrete on Friday. The baby pool is now set to be poured on Tuesday. We have not yet heard if this will impact practice. Please be sure you are receiving our text messages. Swimmers with cell phones, babysitters, etc. should all sign up by texting @foxswims to 81010.
